Satans School for Girls Review

Satan’s School For Girls was directed by David Lowell Rich (who also directed The Horror At 37,000 Feet) and stars Pamela Franklin (from The Food of the Gods), Kate Jackson (from Killer Bees) and Lloyd Bochner (from Bram Stoker’s Legend Of The Mummy). It’s about a girl who goes all 21 Jump Street to figure out who’s offing students at a private girls school.

Satan’s School For Girls Review

Satan’s School for Girls was a made for TV movie back in ’73, produced by the legendary Aaron Spelling who holds the record as the most prolific writer and producers in US TV history (credited with 218 shows including Charlie’s Angels, The Love Boat and Dynasty). Satan’s School aired alongside other TV shows of the era like Sanford and Son, Columbo and Hawaii Five-O. Spelling later went on to reboot Satan’s School in Y2K with the leading roll given to Shannen Doherty, also a lead in one of his other big shows from the 90’s Beverly Hills 90210.

So, those of you familiar with any of these shows know how homogenized they were which should help you infer the style of Satan’s School. It’s essentially a whodunit mystery with a twist ending. There’s no blood, no nudity (which is of course an unspoken prereq for any horror movie set in an all girls school, at least outside of TV) and there’s nothing really satanic. But, that doesn’t mean it wasn’t an entertaining watch. I’ve always liked made for TV horror and would always stay up late for shows like The Twilight Zone and The Outer Limits. And like these classics, Satan’s School is loaded with atmosphere, suspense and topped off with a satisfyingly open-ending.

Worth Watching?

If you like classic made for TV horror, than yes. Satan’s School for Girls was made in an era saturated in style, has a great cast of colorful characters and is surprisingly gripping considering the predictable TV formula of the time. And you can watch the full movie right here at All Horror!
