Clear Critique Lists Six “Actually Scary” Movies

by "Penguin" Pete Trbovich on July 16th, 2018 | , | , ,

The Clear Critique YouTube channel poses a common conundrum: The hardcore viewer that appreciates the artistic merit of horror, but isn’t actually *scared* by much. For those of us cursed with almost psychopathic levels of nerve, there just isn’t much in the world we find disturbing. So when a movie can reach past the defenses and grab you by the core and shake you, even a little bit, it’s worth a special nod.

The movies listed are It Follows, Psycho, [REC], Martyrs, “Perfect Blue” (inspiration for Black Swan), and The VVitch.

On a side note, the “terrible American remake” the reviewer mentions of [REC] is Quarantine, which, according to Wikipedia, opened at the #2 spot behind… Beverly Hills Chihuahua. If there’s a more humiliating thing that could happen to a horror movie, I don’t want to know about it!

Writer, artist, prophet, cult leader. Take good care of my memes. I’ve raised them since they were daydreams.
