Unfriended: Dark Web is the sequel to the found footage style original, taking place on the screen of a laptop. Unlike its supernatural predecessor Dark Web is based entirely in reality as a young man and his deaf girlfriend are dragged into a criminal underworld. Matias O’Brien assumed the laptop he stole from the lost and found at a local cafe would be relatively unsurprising, but when weird messages and disturbing footage found in a secret file lead to the dark web he realizes that the previous owner is highly dangerous and it becomes clear, the owner wants it back at any cost, including invading Matias’ entire life.
