The slower paced and self-aware Summer of 84 follows a group of young teenage boys in the eponymous time period as they begin to suspect that one of their neighbors is a serial killer. Davey Armstrong knows his neighbor is a respected cop, but what if he’s also the serial killer targeting young boys that they’re on the hunt for? The film draws firmly from its decade setting as milk carton kids and childhood summer adventures take the main stage next to the mystery of a serial killer’s identity. Like plenty of 80s films it takes the kids to get to the bottom of a mystery.
