Darren Aronofsky’s mother! follows Jennifer Lawrence’s pregnant character, aptly named Mother, as she designs and restores the childhood home of her husband, Him, while he works on his next written masterpiece. They live together in peace as a lauded poet and dedicated wife until a fan and his family and happen upon the home and bring all their violence and drama with them, escalating over and over again until the home is filled to the brim with those clamoring for a glimpse of Him. When she is unable to leave the home to give birth she does so upstairs, but the masses downstairs won’t let her rest in this surreal nightmare experience.
