Regarded by many to be a masterpiece of horror cinema the Japanese Audition is a psychological slow burn torture thriller. When widower Shigeharu Aoyama hold auditions for a new wife with his film producer friend he is immediately enamored with Asami. Unable to reach the references on her resume he disregards this and pursues her whilst in the mean time she’s spent her time sitting in her empty apartment waiting for the phone to ring. Asami is unwilling to see the men in her life love anyone but her and after a few nights with Aoyama she realizes he had a previous wife and she goes off the deep end, cutting him up in the same way she’s cut up the string of men she put on her resume.

Searching for her long lost sister, she realizes her dreams and reality may possibly be connected. In “The Cut” a successful film director and his wife are kidnapped by an extra, who forces the director to play his sadistic games. If he fails, his wife’s fingers will be chopped off one by one every five minutes

Visitor Q (2001)

A father, who is a failed former television reporter tries to mount a documentary about violence and sex among youths. He proceeds to have sex with his daughter who is now a prostitute and films his son being humiliated and hit by classmates. “Q”, a perfect stranger somehow gets involved and enters the bizarre family whose son beats his mom, who in turn is also a prostitute and a heroin addict.

Martyrs (2008)

A young woman’s quest for revenge against the people who kidnapped and tormented her as a child leads her and a friend, who is also a victim of child abuse, on a terrifying journey into a living hell of depravity.

Spiral (2000)

In a small town in Japan, Kirie comes upon her boyfriend’s father silently videotaping a snail. Later, the mans obsession with spirals becomes more and more bizarre, ending in his suicide in a washing machine which turn his body into a spiral. Soon other inhabitants become possessed with different forms of spirals.

Suicide Club (2001)

When 54 high school girls throw themselves in front of a subway train it appears to be only the beginning of a string of suicides around the country. Does the new all-girl group Desert have anything to do with it? Detective Kuroda tries to find the answer, which isn’t as simple as he had hoped.
