Halloween may be over, but there’s still room for a new trick. Dermot Mulroney is set to star in Patrick Lussier’s horror thriller Trick, due out next year.

Mulroney stars as no-nonsense Detective Denver, hot on the trail of an elusive serial killer known as Trick. Every year Trick descends upon a different small town, bringing his reign of terror with a series of heinous murders. The consensus is that the murders are unrelated, but Denver knows better. Not only has he come face-to-face with the killer, he has shot him – and he believes that Trick is back for revenge.

Ellen Wander, CEO of Film Bridge International, said, “After much discussion with Director Lussier, Dermot was the only choice for this role and we are ecstatic that he was able to take on the project.

Mulroney appears to be diving into the horror genre headfirst with recent films such as Lavender and Insidious 3. Todd Farmer, known for Jason X, co-wrote with Lussier, adding to their writing partnership that includes the remake of My Bloody Valentine. Lussier is known as a horror master for his work in a variety of roles on films such as New Nightmare, Cursed, and the Scream franchise.

Ellen S. Wander of Film Bridge International will produce and handle worldwide sales for the film at the ongoing American Film Market. Gabriela Lugo is also set to produce.  A release date has not yet been set; we’ll update when the information has been released.
