AMC Pays Official Tribute to Walking Dead Actor

Fans of AMC’s The Walking Dead are no doubt familiar with actor, Scott Wilson. The veteran actor portrayed viewer favorite Hershel Greene on the long-running series, so naturally fans were shook when they learned he’d died at age 76 of leukemia on October 6, 2018.

What made the news even tougher to take was the timing. Just one hour before news of his death officially broke, it had been announced at New York’s Comic-Con that Scott Wilson was set to return to The Walking Dead this year as the beloved (but deceased) Hershel. For die-hard Dead fans, it was just like losing Hershel all over again!

To honor Scott Wilson and his wonderful work on The Walking Dead, AMC has officially released a tribute video via the official Twitter page for The Talking Dead, AMC’s popular post-episode discussion recap. Fans everywhere have been circulating the video and praising it for how fittingly it honors the deceased actor. In addition to commentary from Talking Dead’s Chris Hardwick, the 90-second clip features behind-the-scenes photos of Wilson and other members of the Walking Dead cast on set.

Although his work on The Walking Dead was ultimately what made Scott Wilson a household name among horror fans, his successful career actually spans decades. He has over 50 film credits to his name including In Cold Blood, The Ninth Configuration (for which he was nominated for a Golden Globe), The Exorcist III, and Radio Free Albemuth. He’s also appeared in numerous television shows over the years, including such iconic classics as The Twilight Zone and The X-Files.

Don’t forget to honor Scott Wilson and mourn his passing by not only watching AMC’s tribute video, but by revisiting some of this talented actors incredible work this Halloween season. Rest in peace, Scott! You’ll be sorely missed.
